To Every Brave Child,

The world can feel big sometimes.

There will be days when you feel unsure, when someone may ask you to ignore how you feel leaving you wondering if your voice matters. It does!

You were born with something wonderful inside you, your own brave heart, your own wise voice, and feelings that are there to help keep you safe.

Always listen to them.

You never have to be mean to be strong, and you never have to make someone else happy by ignoring what doesn't feel right.

It is okay to say no, it is okay to walk away, it is okay to ask for help and most of all is it is always okay to trust yourself.

I wrote Brave on the Inside because I believe every child deserves to grow up knowing they are worthy of love, respect, kindness, and safety.

If this book helps even one child recognize their own strength before life asks them to use it, then every page was worth writing.

About the Author

I am a mother, advocate, survivor and author of Brave on the Inside.

My journey through emotional abuse, manipulation, and rebuilding my life taught me lessons I wish every child could learn before they ever need them.

Like many survivors, I know how difficult it can be to recognize unhealthy behavior when it is disguised as kindness, guilt, or love.  I also know that one of the greatest forms of prevention is education, and that belief inspired me to write Brave on the Inside.
